Make It So - Collabhub

The aim of this meeting with collabhub as hosted by Dr Liz Dobson, was to within the nights meeting create a concept and prototype for an innovative idea while also networking with other creatives from different disciplines. There was about 15 of us at the meeting and we were split into three groups, with the aim of coming up with an interesting idea each which could be simply produced to display within the group. The mixture of skills available was that of technicians, musicians and designers, such as myself. Although each of the groups ideas varied in technique and concept they all shared a commonality of producing visual representation of sound. This commonality represents the shared interests of the group musical and visual talents.

Group Sketches Contribution

My own sketch contribution -
half of these inspired by the notes sound

In regards to my groups idea, we based this around displaying emotions within music and decided that creating a set of drawings in response to musical notes would be an interesting concept. This developed to appear as rainbow coloured in relation to the notes tone and would be triggered when a note has been pressed on a keyboard. I found this particularly interesting, especially as a way to encourage learning through play, particularly for those with Autism who find colour and sound very beneficial to their learning development.
